MISSOULA ~ Robert A. “Bob” Bakke, 83, of Missoula passed away on August 25th with his spouse and children by his side.

Bob was born in Missoula on January 5, 1938 to N. Vincent and Florence M. McCart-Bakke. Bob was educated in Missoula attending Prescott Quality University, Missoula County Significant University and College of Montana. In the course of his college or university many years, Bob participated in the ROTC system and joined the Montana Army Countrywide Guard, later on transferring to the Montana Air Nationwide Guard.

Developing up, Bob was enamored with any motorized motor vehicle, whether it was a Whizzer bicycle, a Harley Davidson motorbike, a Model T Ford, a customized very hot rod, or a single of a lot of 4×4 jeeps. Bob preferred pace and pushing the restrictions, bike racing, off-roading and racing go-carts. He was energetic in the Hellgate Motorbike Club, racing in Montana and Idaho. Bob was regarded as the “Whizzkid” which was proudly emblazoned on his helmet.

During quality and substantial university, Bob worked for his father at Vince Bakke’s Conoco. Following the station sold in 1953, Bob labored for another services station until finally his father started off Vince Bakke’s Tire Shop in downtown Missoula. Bob worked at the tire retailer right up until 1961 then became supervisor of Bakke Tire Assistance soon after his dad, Vince, handed absent.

On December 18, 1960, Bob married his sweetheart, Arlene Johnson, of Missoula. Final December they celebrated their 60th anniversary. Arlene supported Bob throughout his performing several years by trying to keep the property fires lit and boosting their 4 small children.

As Bob’s mother attained retirement age, he became a spouse in the loved ones company. Bob cherished the enterprise, the workers, and the shoppers. It was frequent to see him at a person of the Bakke Tire suppliers at any hour of the day or night time. Extended hours and really hard perform ended up his mantra.

Having said that tough he labored, Bob often uncovered time to enjoy with the family. Several a happy weekend was invested at Seeley Lake boating, motorcycling, using 4 wheelers or mountaineering up to Morrell Falls, with his ideal close friend Major Al and his great family who generally experienced home for us. As young ones it was hard to keep up with him, but we were constantly there possessing enjoyable and working proper alongside of him and Mom.

Bob gave again to his community as a result of volunteering with the Montana Tire Dealers, Missoula Jaycee’s, Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Orchard Houses Place Everyday living Club.

Bob was preceded in death by his dad and mom, Vincent and Florence Bakke.

Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene Bakke, sons Vince (Myra) Bakke, Excellent Falls, MT, Victor (Christy) Bakke, El Cajon, CA, daughter Valerie Bakke, Missoula, and son Vaughan Bakke, Missoula, ten grandchildren and four fantastic-grandchildren, siblings Kenneth (Denise) Bakke, Kent, WA, Barbara Bakke, Springfield, OR, Gary (Donna) Bakke, Missoula, and Ronald (Debra) Bakke, Salem, OR.

A services will be held Thursday Sept 2nd at 2 pm at Backyard garden City Funeral House, 1705 W. Broadway St., Missoula.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bob’s name can be created to a charity of your alternative.

Bob will be skipped and remembered by a lot of. May possibly God Bless and preserve him. May well he relaxation in peace!

Preparations are under the treatment of Sunset Memorial Funeral Property in Missoula.
