Just after yrs of pocketing bribes from collision shop homeowners, ex-Detroit law enforcement Officer Deonne Dotson will spend for his actions with his independence.

Dotson was sentenced this week to 6½ several years in prison following his 2019 conviction on six counts of extortion. A federal jury identified   him guilty   of pocketing far more than $6,000 in bribes from collision shop proprietors as component of a broader law enforcement corruption scheme that authorities investigated for years.

In the course of his eight-day trial, prosecutors argued that Dotson and some others referred stolen and deserted vehicles to collision shops for funds, with vehicle house owners blindly agreeing to have their autos towed to people chop stores.

Dotson was accused of not only pocketing bribes from collision shop house owners, but faking police studies to assist pull off the fraud that steered cash his way, prosecutors reported.
